In this category of London hotels, we will try to identify suitable accommodation for the visitor to London who is on a reasonably tight budget because of personal circumstances or even because of currency exchange rates. This person is looking for a London hotel which offers clean and presentable accommodation and probably not expecting any "frills". Its hard because its very easy to locate a London hotel within your budget but like most major cities there are many bad experiences. The lower bracket of hotel trade in London on the whole tends to be greedy, letting refurbishment periods be extended to save money and are more interested in the property value rather than customer service. One option is to take advantage of the lower rates / better standards of the many new budget hotels in the outskirts of London.

We have taken a price range of approximately £40 up to £70 a night for 2 persons. Some of the London hotels that we have placed into this category offer differing rates at the weekends, usually higher, however, in the City of London ( the Financial District ) rates at the weekend tend to be lower because of the lack of business travellers therefore if you dont mind this area then its usually possible to get a bargain. Remember that if you stay in the city you will have to travel to access main attractions which are one or two miles to the east in the West End of London and Kensington / Knightsbridge. Alternatively consider staying outside of the centre of London where rates are lower and in most cases standards higher and there is still underground / bus travel into the centre.

WINCHESTER HOTEL, Victoria, London 
 A budget hotel located in Victoria SW1, the Winchester Hotel offers clean and well maintained accommodation in central London. Close to Victoria Station, the hotel offers easy access to all London areas and landmarks. The London Eye is an easy 20 minute walk from the London Eye.
Sister Hotel to the Comfort Inn Buckingham Palace Road and the Edward House Hotel, you can be sure of a comfortable stay. All rooms at the Winchester Hotel have been recently refurbished, making for warm and bright accommodation.

ARRIVA HOTEL LONDON, Kings Cross, London 
 A budget hotel which offers newly refurbished ensuite bedrooms at good prices. The Arriva is located just to the south of Kings Cross Station where you can walk to Oxford Street in 15 minutes.

If you are on a budget and want to be central then its a consideration but dont expect too much, it is a basic hotel where the staff make an effort to please.

THE CITY HOTEL, City, London 
 The modern City Hotel London is walking distance to Petticoat Lane and Brick Lane markets being only 100 yards from Aldgate East underground in the city of London which offers direct travel to Westminster and South Kensington. Rooms are generally quite spacious. Weekend prices are low due to lack of business people in this area.

FAIRWAY HOTEL, Kings Cross, London
 The family run Fairway Hotel is a definate "OK" attracting positive feedback from clients. Very close to Kings Cross station so travel options around London are plentiful. Rooms small but very clean and staff helpful.

We are very happy to recommend the Fairway, perhaps the only downside being the area so not recommended for youngsters or women travelling alone being out in the area at night. Easy access to Westend

CUSTOM HOUSE HOTEL, Docklands, London
 New breed of contemporary functional budget hotel. Very convenient for ExCel and Docklands Light Railway. Prices are amazingly cheap and bedrooms are very clean and serviced daily. Small onsite car park at cheap rates.
Comment about the Custom House Hotel London:
Its a relatively new hotel and has had some teething problems. Location for tourists is not brilliant but the price is low and the facilities / standard for the price is excellent.

IBIS LONDON WEMBLEY, Wembley, London
Well thought of budget hotel located approx 5 miles from central London but with fast regular trains into Marylebone and of course on the doorstep of Wembley. Rooms are modern clean and offer good amenities and has the benefit on a car park enabling easy access into central London via the A40 from the M25.

Excellent facilities, cheap prices and deceptively close to central London. If the travel does not bother you then its a great choice.
