Liverpool Street EC2 runs from the east of Blomfield Street EC2 to the main road Bishopsgate EC2. Liverpool Street is intersected by Broad Street EC2 and Sun Street Passage EC2. The main feature to Liverpool Street is Liverpool Street Train Station. One of the London train stations to be included on the Monopoly boards, Liverpool Street serves as one of the key access points for commuters arriving in the City by train, tube and bus.

Liverpool Street, which was previously known as Old Bethlam, was named after Lord Liverpool who was the British Prime Minister from 1812 – 1827. A chunk of Liverpool Street is used for one of the entrances to Liverpool Street Station. Aside from the station, the street is lined with shops, restaurants and offices. Sir Terence Conran’s highly acclaimed restaurant ‘Aurora’ is at 40 Liverpool Street. Constantly a bustling street due to the people coming in and out of the station, Liverpool Street is one of the hearts of the City close to many national and international companies.

Liverpool Street train station first opened in 1874 after being selected by Great Eastern Railways to be a site for a new City station. Liverpool Street station can be accessed by Bishopsgate, Liverpool Street and Sun Street EC2. The station went through huge renovation works from 1985 – 1992 and it incorporated Broadgate Station. The east of England is the region which mainly uses Liverpool Street Station. The following destinations are well connected to Liverpool Street: Braintree; Cambridge; Chelmsford; Colchester; Great Yarmouth; Norwich; Ipswich; Harwich; and many suburban areas North East of London. The highly effcient Stansted Express runs to Stansted Airport from Liverpool Sreet and takes roughly 45 minutes. Inside the station, there is a wide variety of shops and fast food restaurants and cafes, many are located on the second floor of Liverpool Street Station.

Liverpool Street tube station is connected to the Circle line, Metropolitan line, Hammersmith and City line and the Central line. Liverpool street is also moments away from buses and Sun Street Passage EC2, just off Liverpool Street and behind the station, now is lined with the stops for buses terminating at, and starting from, Liverpool Street.

Broadgate Circle EC2, a modern circular structure with units consisting of shops, restaurants and bars, is located just north of Liverpool Street. During the winter, the centre of the circular building is transformed into an open air ice-rink. Broadgate Circle EC2 acts as a wonderful amenity for tourists and local office staff alike.

Liverpool Street and EC2 is a hive of activity from Monday to Friday due to the density of trade, industry and finance companies. However, the area is an attractive one during the weekend due to the nearby Spitalfields market which is found between Bishopsgate and Commercial Road EC2. The market consists of an eclectic range of food, clothes, accessories and furniture and is open during the week and on Sundays.
