Palace Hotel
The Palace hotel is a Georgian building located in the very heart of London, just a short walk from Marble Arch and London's underground and bus services. The world-renowned shopping district of Oxford Street and the luxury of Bond Street are also within easy walking distance. Alternatively other nearby attractions include Madame Tussauds, Buckingham Palace or simply take a stroll in Hyde Park.
This London hotel is privately owned and offers a personal service to it's guests. The public areas of this tourist class property are very airy, with marble/granite floors and high ceilings. The decor is simplistic, with the exception of the unique central staircase that boasts a selection of elaborate murals.
On entering the hotel you are greeted by a small reception desk that is manned 24 hours a day. There is an Edwardian style communal lounge with comfy seating and a colour television. The only other public facility is a small dining room where you can take a continental breakfast each morning, included in the cost of the room. Full English breakfast is also available to guests of the hotel.
The accommodation consists of 26 generous sized bedrooms and 4 apartments. These are distributed over 5 floors, with elevator access to all floors. The apartments each feature a fully fitted kitchen, with microwave oven, fridge/freezer, cooking utensils and cutlery. They also have a separate lounge area and 1 or more bathrooms.
Both the apartments and the en-suite bedrooms offer all modern amenities including remote control colour TV with satellite, tea/coffee making facilities, direct dial telephone, trouserpress/ironing facilities, electronic key card and hairdryer. The accommodation has been painted in fresh colours in keeping with the hotel's simplistic style. The furniture and fabrics are plain and somewhat dated.
Our opinion: The Palace hotel is a well maintained 2 star plus London hotel with an excellent location. The bedrooms lack a certain attention to detail, yet all are comfortable, clean and of a generous size. The Palace provides the ideal choice of hotel for holiday visitors looking to be within walking distance of London's main attractions, at a reasonable price.
